What is a bariatric diet?

This is often the hardest and the most confusing part of life after bariatric surgery: Being a weight loss surgery patient does not mean that you will never enjoy a meal again. Low-carb, low-fat meals can be flavorful and filling if you take the time to plan and prepare your meals. No one meal plan is right for every bariatric patient. Make adjustments and speak with your surgeon about your diet.

Keep it Healthy
Weight Loss Surgery is a lifestyle challenge, balancing moderation and healthy food choices. Managing your protein intake, making healthy food choices, learning how your body reacts to different foods, building meals, and menu plans that moderate protein and fat intake, are keys to the process.

  Chicken or Turkey Salad Wrap

Ingredients:
-
1/4 cup fat free Miracle Whip
- 1/4 cup low fat or fat free plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp. finely chopped onion - optional
- 2 tbsp. finely chopped fresh cilantro or parsley
- 1 tbsp. fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1 tsp. taco seasoning mix
- 2 cups cooked chopped chicken or turkey (also great with fresh grilled salmon)
- 1 medium tomato, seeded and diced - optional
- 1 avocado, diced or sliced thin strips (optional)
- Big leafed lettuce

Directions:
In a small to medium bowl, mix first 6 ingredients. Blend well. Stir in your desired meat and tomatoes. At this point you are ready or you can do what I like and cover the bowl and chill it in the fridge for an hour or two. To make wraps, take big leaves of fresh lettuce (I prefer Romaine) and spoon in some of the mixture to desired amount, top with avocado, fold over, and eat...yum!!!! This should make enough for about 4 to 6 wraps, depending on how much you fill them.
